Our Construction Process
Our Construction Process
Initial Consultation
A conversation to understand your needs, style, and budget, followed by advice and recommendations.
Design & Planning
We work with architects or designers (yours or ours) to finalise a design that suits your vision and budget.
Quote & Contract
A fully detailed quote is provided. Once approved, contracts are signed to lock in scope and cost.
Construction
Site preparation, final checks, and scheduling. Communication remains clear and consistent throughout. Building starts with a focus on workmanship, timeline, and minimal disruption. Regular updates are provided.
Handover
A thorough inspection is completed with the client to ensure every detail meets expectations. Keys are handed over, and the client can enjoy their new space. Ongoing support is available if needed.
Pricing & Contract Options
Every project is different, which is why we offer flexible contract options to suit your goals, budget and level of involvement. At Dowdy Constructions, our approach is always transparent—so you can feel confident about where your money is going.
Option 1: Cost Plus Contract
This option provides full visibility throughout the project. We’ll supply a detailed estimate up front, then invoice based on hourly labour plus a builder’s margin. You’ll receive trade rates before we begin and ongoing access to individual costings as work progresses.
Option 2: Fixed Price Contract
Ideal for new builds or projects with clearly defined scopes. We prepare a full quote and invoice you in stages against the agreed lump sum. It’s a clear, predictable way to plan and pay.
Option 3: Combination Contract
Perfect for larger or more complex renovations. Material costs are locked in at a fixed price, while labour is billed hourly under the cost plus model. This hybrid approach allows for flexibility with any unknowns—like subfloor issues or structural variations—while still giving you clarity on major costs upfront.
